The Las Vegas Monorail provides a convenient way to travel along the east side of the Strip, avoiding traffic and connecting major resorts. Here's everything you need to know about this elevated transportation system.
The monorail runs 3.9 miles with seven stations from SAHARA Las Vegas in the north to MGM Grand in the south. Trains arrive every 4-8 minutes during peak hours and the full journey takes about 15 minutes.
Stations include: SAHARA, Westgate, Las Vegas Convention Center, Harrah's/The LINQ, Flamingo/Caesars Palace, Bally's/Paris, and MGM Grand. A new station at Mandalay Bay was planned but hasn't been completed.
Ticket prices are $5 for a single ride or $15 for unlimited day passes. Multi-day passes offer better value for longer stays. Children 5 and under ride free. Tickets can be purchased at station kiosks or via mobile app.
The monorail operates Monday-Thursday 7am-2am, Friday-Sunday 7am-3am. During major conventions, hours may be extended. Each train can carry up to 222 passengers.
Pros: Air-conditioned comfort, avoid Strip traffic, direct access to Convention Center, faster than walking or rideshare during busy times.
Cons: Limited to east side of Strip only, stations require walking through casinos, doesn't serve airport or downtown, can be expensive for single rides.
Tips: Buy day passes if you'll make 3+ trips. The monorail is especially useful during conventions when the Strip is congested. Stations are located at the rear of properties, so factor in walking time through casinos. Consider combining with the RTC bus system for greater coverage.
